Bio

Neelima Jeychandran is a Mellon Visiting Assistant Professor in the Indian Ocean Worlds Research Initiative with a joint appointment in the Departments of Anthropology and African American & African Studies at the University of California, Davis. She also works as an independent curator who has received curatorial grants from the Japan Foundation, Polish Cultural and Heritage Ministry, and Asian Cultural Council, New York. She holds a Ph.D. in Culture and Performance from University of California, Los Angeles. Currently, she is working on her book on African memoryscapes in India and a spatial history archive project to map events, sacred landscapes and memorials about the histories of Afro-Indian communities. Read more about Neelima Jeychandran's research and activities.
